Apple says it has sold more than two million iPads in less than 60 days since the device was launched. Doing some quick math, that means the company has pulled in more than $1 billion in revenue from the sales of the next-gen tablet.
On Friday Apple began selling the popular gadget in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
In a news release issued this morning, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said, “Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do. We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.”
The company says the iPad will be available in nine more countries in July, and additional countries later this year. Apple has yet to name those additional countries.
Apple’s announcement comes less than a month after the company announced it had sold one million iPads in the U.S. The company initially delayed the shipping date for the iPad internationally as it struggled to meet U.S. demand.
The iPad comes in a variety of models, ranging from $499 to $829 USD ($549 to $879 CDN).
