Note to PR professionals: Don’t touch reporters

If you work in PR, or any job where you must deal with media every day, here’s a simple but important reminder: Don’t touch journalists who are just trying to do their jobs.

Want to see what would be considered inappropriate or too much touching? This video courtesy of Mediaite is an excellent example.

In the video, a local reporter for the ABC Bay Area affiliate KGO-TV named Dan Noyes is harassed by a media relations person attempting to get in between him and his source. Noyes is trying to interview a director for Laguna Honda hospital when hospital spokesman Marc Slavin engages in what can only be described as a very touchy, feely block attempt.

While it seems obvious that touching strangers (especially reporters trying to do their jobs) is not all that appropriate, Slavin does it anyway.
